Thanks -- I'm liking the idea of being superlingual; meanwhile, will reread bio, which probably can be improved (both the life underlying it, and the words describing it, which just goes to show that someone here may well be suffering the ailments de Botton is describing).

well lookit you! really yr sense of humor and deft lingual abilities (no stupid jokes intended) are perfect fer blogging. nothing like a tongue in cheek (with substance) take on the world of marketing. kudos!
always kind of liked alain de botton...
one suggestion - at first glance i thot yr bio read "an attorney in his own mind", a subconcious thing. mebbe with his own practice is better?
sorry to red pen ya.
cheers.

The three easiest customers to sell something to:

1. Present customers or clients - that's right - sell them MORE.

2. People referred to you - think about it - someone comes already thinking great thoughts about you.

3. Former customers or clients, those you haven't done business with lately (and lately is a relative term... for some people that's a year, for some maybe 3-6 months).

And then stay in touch with ALL those on your list... at least monthly, or you'll lose them again.

Invest more in your smart marketing now... and you will be miles ahead of others when this world-wide economic meltdown is over.

So true!!! Marketing should not be ignored, especially during economic downturns. Actually, a recession can be a potential boom to skilled marketers who strategically develop messages around saving money and increasing value. For instance, people are now no longer encouraged to renovate the bathrooms, but rather to build value in their homes. Another example can be seen in the product called Snuggie, a blanket with holes for the neck and arms, which had been ignored for years. The product has experienced an enormous resurgence as ads encourage the purchase of the item to save on heating costs. By the way, I have no connection to the Snuggie product and actually prefer blankets myself.....

Extra kudos to HostGator. By comparison, Twitter takes over a week to respond to service inquiries.

Your 'Good Eneough' blog reminds me of an eyeopening exprience I had as a rocket engineer. When I became Components Manager I learned that some engineers can be very precise perfectionists. Which means that they tinker with product designs endlessly. This tinkering can wreak havoc with manufacturing schedules. One of my first acts was to replace the tinkerers with engineers who were more attuned to manufacturing needs amd freeze the designs. Within about 4 years the company was making one half its profit from one quarter the sales from components. I gave the tinkerers the job of developing new products. In that same priod we developed six new products!
